A cardboard cylinder box is a round pack made from a rigid cardboard tube with a lid and base. The names cylinder box, round box, paper tube and cardboard tube usually describe the same product. Brands choose them for a premium feel, a large printable surface and a satisfying opening.

How cylinder boxes are made

The body is a rigid tube made by winding layers of board around a mandrel, then cut to the required height. Our standard wall thickness is 2mm. The outside is wrapped in a printed paper, which can be coated with gloss or matt lamination, or left as an uncoated kraft finish. A base and lid are then added.

Common styles

• Telescopic: the lid slides over the body. Simple, strong and popular for gifts.
• Butt joint: lid and body meet flush on a neck, giving a clean, seamless line.
• Metal lid: a metal end for a more traditional or robust pack.
• Kraft: natural brown or white board for an earthy, low-ink look.

Sizing

Cylinder boxes are specified as diameter × height. Measure the widest point of your product and its packed height, then allow a little clearance. Heights can be cut to suit. See our size guide for help.
